Controllers For Solar Powered Cathodic Protection Systems

For most impressed current cathodic protection systems, the use of AC powered transformer rectifiers is the preferred means of supplying power to the system. However, where AC power is not readily available, reliable alternative power supply such as solar powered systems are used.
We provide complete turnkey systems customized to your specific needs. Systems are sized for the required output power. The Cathodic Protection Controller is designed for trouble free service in all environments and includes many special features which make it easy to operate and maintain in the field. Power consumption and components heating are minimised since efficient solid state circuitry is used instead of ballast resistors typical of earlier cathodic protection units. Quality digital or analog voltage and current meters provide output measurement.

Since most solar powered systems operate in remote, unattended sites, they should be protected from the common effects that make them fail such as lightning exposure, battery damage, and short–circuits.
That is why every SummitGroup UK unit includes lightning transient suppression, a low battery disconnect circuit and output overload protection. Our transient protection will suppress electrical spikes and surges that normally damage field equipment. If the storage batteries become discharged due to cloudy days or photovoltaic system failure, the CP Unit will automatically shut down, preventing excessive discharge and protecting the battery from permanent damage.
