Flare Stack & Flare Ignition Systems

Flare Stacks
The flare system is designed to collect and safely dispose of a wide range of fluids at various conditions during normal or upset operation of processing plants. These relief fluids are typically flammable and, in some cases, corrosive and/or toxic.
Typical components of a flare system include:
- Pressure safety valve (PSV) tailpipes, subheaders and headers inside battery limits (ISBL).
- ISBL flare knockout drums (KODs) and pumps.
- Outside battery limits (OSBL) main flare headers.
- Flare area KODs and pumps.
- Liquid seal drums and flare seal.
- End and emergency purge.
- Flare riser, tips and associated hardware (fuel gas, ignition, steam).
- Associated monitoring and safety systems.

Flare system design evolves over the project phases, starting with configuration; feasibility study; licensor selection; basic engineering; front end engineering design (FEED); engineering, procurement and construction (EPC); and commissioning. Summit Group designs and constructs horizontal and vertical flares based on customer or user specifications and requirements maintaining international trade standards. This service is handled turnkey or as in collaboration with client representatives to achieve required success. Our flares are fitted with automatic flare ignition systems and other safety devices to ensure long years of reliable and safe operation in the most harsh and unfriendly environments.
Our flare design and configuration are based on specific client data and also from similar past projects and any local regulatory requirements. Typically, design and configuration decisions are taken based on the following:
- Ground vs. elevated flare.
- Segregation and number of flares [e.g., high pressure (HP), low pressure (LP), acid gas flare, low low pressure (LLP), low temperature (LT)]
- Sparing and maintenance requirements.
- Mounting flares on a common derrick vs. a mix of derrick and guy-wired flares, etc.
We also handle repairs and refurbishment of existing flare stacks and tips.

Flare Ignition System
Summit Group UK produces low-tension high-energy ignition and control systems for industrial combustion processes such as flares in petrochemical industries, burners, incinerators, and coal-fired power stations.
These electronic ignition systems are rudged and reliabile using capacitor discharge principles with advanced high energy semiconductor spark plugs that are not effected by water, dirt, moisture, oil, humidity, extreme temperatures or aggressive gases.
We also build pilot burners that can serve for several years without a need for maintenance. In manufacturing our products, we use standard components of our own design and all manufacturing processes are within our control.

Standard Features Of Our Flare Ignition System
- Low tension, high energy ignition.
- Ignition integrated semiconductor spark plugs.
- Long lifetime, longer maintenance intervals.
- Not affected by oil, water, moisture and dirt.
- Easy to install.
- Automatic re-ignition at flameout using feedback from flame detectors or thermocouples.
- Built with high grade stainless steel material for reliable temperature resistance.
